11th September 2010 - Patch 4.0.1 is now available for general open testing on the regular Public Test Realms.

7th September 2010 - Operation: Gnomeregan and Zalazane's Fall now active on US servers!

The first pre-Cataclysm events for the Alliance and the Horde are now active on US servers. Fight alongside Gelbin Mekkatorque and Vol'jin as they retake their homelands from vile usurpers!
5th August 2010 - Blizzard frown on lewd WoW chat

Developer Blizzard affirm they are on the hunt for "offensive" chat in public channels in World of Warcraft all the time. It's "impossible" to be everywhere. More at Strategy Informer
27th July 2010 - World of WarCraft: Cataclysm Preview from Strategy Informer

The closed beta to Blizzard’s Cataclysm expansion to World of Warcraft now struts its stuff over the Internet, enticing those lucky enough to score an invite to plunder its riches before the gates to the public screech open. 19th July 2010 - Battle.net becoming social gaming platform "no secret" says Blizz

If you thought that Blizzard was concocting secret plans to turn Battle.net into a social platform for all their games, then you're right... and wrong. First it was never a secret and second it was a "deliberate and open design decision," as they want friends and family able to play and chat. More at Strategy Informer
9th July 2010 - Blizzard listens to users - announces cancellation of RealID-related changes to official forums

After a large amount of negative feedback from the community, as well as a negative reaction in the media, the CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment, Mike Morhaime, has posted a retraction of the previously-announced policy regarding real name being mandatory when posting in official forums.
1st July 2010 - Blizzard mindful of free-to-play MMOs

Big wigs at Blizzard HQ recognise that at some point it "may not make sense" to have subscription charges for World of Warcraft anymore. Don't believe it's just around the corner though as Blizz are "not spending a lot of time" thinking about it. MMOs go free-to-play to 'cannibalise'. More at Strategy Informer
30 June 2010 - Cataclysm closed beta has begun!

14 June 2010 - World of Warcraft: Cataclysm to ship with "over 3000 new quests"
